Artistic Director Michael Novak, the Board of Trustees, the dancers, and the entire Paul Taylor Dance family mourn the loss of our former Board President, Norton Belknap. Inspired to join the Board after falling in love with Mr. Taylor’s “Arden Court” in 1981, Norton became the longest-serving trustee, after Mr. Taylor himself, in the Company’s history. Following distinguished stints as Board Vice President and Treasurer, Norton served as President from 1993 until 2008, leading a period of exponential growth. He was still enjoying, advising, and supporting the Taylor Company until shortly before his death. New York’s music and dance institutions have lost a champion who selflessly devoted his time, energy, love, and fortune to ensure that they continue to flourish. We will dearly miss his clear-eyed leadership, generosity, warmth, and enthusiasm. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the Belknap family.
